Most bird baths need a spot. This one needs a gap. It pushes into soil on a single stake with a footprint of a few inches, which means it goes into a border, between shrubs, or in the narrow strip beside a path — the places a pedestal bath will not fit and a ground bath gets lost in planting.

Three tiers, and they fill themselves

The basins step down one above the other, so rain landing in the top one overflows into the next. After a shower all three hold water without you touching them, and in a wet week the bath effectively runs itself.

The tiers do something else that matters more than it sounds. Birds of different sizes want different depths — a wren will not use water a blackbird is comfortable in. Three basins at three heights means several birds can drink at once without competing for the same spot, which is exactly what a single bowl fails at.

Iron, staked into the ground

Wrought iron, pushed into soil rather than standing on a base, so there is nothing to blow over. A pedestal bath is top-heavy by design and ends up on its side after an autumn gale; a stake driven into earth stays where it is put.

It stands 23.6 inches tall — high enough that ground predators cannot reach a bathing bird easily, low enough to fill from a watering can without stretching.

Questions people ask

Will it stand up in wind?
In soil, driven in properly, yes — the manufacturer rates it for moderate wind. Push it in until the stake is firmly seated; in very loose or sandy ground, water the spot first so the soil packs around it.

Do I still need to top it up?
In a dry spell, yes. Rain collection is a bonus, not a substitute — shallow basins in sun evaporate within a day or two.

How do I keep it clean?
Rinse and brush the basins when you top them up. Small basins go green faster than large ones because the water warms quickly; a copper bird bath disk in the largest tier slows that down.

Will iron rust?
Any iron garden object outdoors weathers. That is generally read as character on a rustic piece like this, but if you want it to stay as delivered, a clear metal lacquer on the outer faces — never inside the basins — slows it.

Can I leave it out in winter?
Yes. Metal basins handle freezing far better than stone or ceramic, which crack. Tip out standing water before a hard freeze all the same.

Frequently asked questions

What is this made from?

The exact materials for this piece are listed in the specifications above. Across the range we use untreated cedar, kiln-dried hardwood, metal, ceramic, glass, recycled cotton and preserved moss. A few designs — window feeders and the recycled-plastic range — do use plastic, and where they do it is stated on the product page.

How fast will it arrive?

Dispatch time varies by item, because the range comes from a number of different small workshops and suppliers. You will get tracking by email as soon as your order ships, and shipping is free on every order. If you need something by a particular date, email brand@birdlover.store before you order and we will tell you honestly what is realistic.

Can I leave it outside all year?

Nearly everything here is built for year-round outdoor use — check the specifications above if you are unsure about a particular piece. Untreated wood will silver and weather over time; that is normal and does not affect how it works.

What if it is not right?

Return it within 30 days for a refund, and we pay the return postage. If anything arrives damaged, email brand@birdlover.store with a photo and we will replace it.
