Collection: Bird Baths with Stands

A bird bath is the single most effective addition you can make to a wildlife garden. Birds need fresh water for drinking and bathing year-round — and a well-placed bird bath will attract species that never visit feeders, dramatically increasing the variety of birds in your garden.

Why Bird Baths Attract More Birds Than Feeders

Every bird needs water. Not every bird eats seeds. A bird bath attracts insect-eating warblers, thrushes, robins, and many other species that will never visit a seed feeder — making it the most inclusive wildlife garden feature you can add.

Choosing the Right Bird Bath

  • Depth: No deeper than 2” at the center — birds need to wade, not swim. Sloping sides are ideal.
  • Texture: Rough or textured surfaces give birds grip — avoid smooth glazed bowls that are slippery when wet
  • Size: Larger baths attract more species and require less frequent refilling
  • Stand height: Pedestal baths at 24–36" high give birds a clear view of approaching predators
  • Material: Stone, ceramic, copper, and cast iron all work well — avoid thin plastic that cracks in frost

Keeping Your Bird Bath Clean

  • Change water every 2–3 days in warm weather to prevent mosquito breeding and algae growth
  • Scrub with a stiff brush weekly — no soap needed, just water
  • Add a solar-powered water wiggler to keep water moving and prevent stagnation
