A gazebo feeder lives outside in every season, so what it is made of matters more than how it looks on day one. The BIRDLOVER Amish Handcrafted Red Cedar & Recycled Plastic Gazebo Hanging Bird Feeder pairs a red cedar body with an Admiral Blue roof made from recycled plastic lumber, and it is Amish-made in the USA: the maker states it is made entirely by U.S. workers from U.S. materials. Seed flows down a cone onto a six-sided platform, so cardinals, jays and finches can feed from every side. Every order includes free shipping (no minimum) and 30-day returns.

Why Backyard Birders Like This Amish Gazebo Feeder

  • Red cedar and recycled plastic: The body and the hand-hewn finial are red cedar, which the maker chose because it is aromatic and deters insects. The roof panels are recycled plastic lumber in Admiral Blue, held in place by single-piece grooved tines.
  • A platform all the way round: A tall cone inside the base spreads seed out onto the six-sided feeding platform. Cardinals need somewhere flat to stand rather than a small port to cling to, and a platform gives them that.
  • Drains after rain: The base is perforated, so rainwater runs through instead of pooling in the seed.
  • Holds over 2 quarts: The seed tube is polycarbonate, which the maker uses because it flexes rather than cracking the way brittle acrylic can. It holds 2.15 quarts, about 3.2 lb of seed.
  • Hangs on a coated steel cable: The maker gives its weight as 5 lb, more once it is full, so hang it from a sturdy hook, bracket or shepherd's hook. Five feet up and seven feet from anything a squirrel can jump from is the spot to aim for.
  • A gift made in the USA: Take one, or the 2-Pack ($99) for the front and back gardens.

What to Feed and Who Comes

The maker lists black oil sunflower seed, sunflower kernels, safflower, peanut chunks, cracked corn and mixed seed. Among the birds it names are Northern Cardinals, Blue Jays, grosbeaks, chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, American Goldfinches and other finches. An open feeder serves sparrows, starlings and grackles too; if you would rather feed cardinals than flocks, fill it with safflower, which grackles and most starlings leave alone. Bluebirds are not on the maker's list: they mostly eat insects and berries, and come to mealworms rather than seed.

Frequently asked questions

What is this made from?

The exact materials for this piece are listed in the specifications above. Across the range we use untreated cedar, kiln-dried hardwood, metal, ceramic, glass, recycled cotton and preserved moss. A few designs — window feeders and the recycled-plastic range — do use plastic, and where they do it is stated on the product page.

Will it look exactly like the photo?

Images are representative. Our range comes from a number of independent workshops and suppliers, so an item may occasionally differ slightly from the photo in finish, grain, colour or small details. Natural wood and hand-finished pieces are never identical to one another. We are bringing more of the range into our own inventory to reduce this. If what arrives is not what you expected, email support@birdlover.store — returns are free for 30 days.

How does shipping work?

Shipping is free on every order, to all 28 countries in our delivery zone — you will see whether yours is covered at checkout. The range comes from a number of different small workshops and suppliers, so dispatch times vary from piece to piece, and items in the same order may arrive separately. We would rather not quote a delivery window we cannot keep, so we do not: you will get tracking by email as soon as your order ships.

Can I leave it outside all year?

Nearly everything here is built for year-round outdoor use — check the specifications above if you are unsure about a particular piece. Untreated wood will silver and weather over time; that is normal and does not affect how it works.

What if it is not right?

Return it within 30 days of delivery for a refund, for any reason. Return shipping is free — email support@birdlover.store and we will send you a prepaid return label. If it arrived damaged or we sent the wrong item, send a photo and we will put it right straight away. Refunds are issued within 5–7 business days of the item reaching us. EU customers also have a 14-day right of withdrawal.
