Give your backyard songbirds a nesting spot that looks like it grew out of the woods with the BIRDLOVER Handcrafted Rustic Bark & Moss Hanging Wren Birdhouse. Handcrafted from split-bark wood staves under a radial wooden shingle roof, with real preserved moss along the seams, this 6.3-inch hanging nest box blends into trees and shrubs instead of standing out. Every order includes Free Shipping (no minimum) and 30-day returns.

Why Cavity-Nesting Birds & Cottage Gardeners Love It

  • Natural woodland look: Real bark staves and green moss seams give it the look of a hollow branch. House Wrens, Carolina Wrens and Black-capped Chickadees are cavity nesters that naturally choose hollows like this one.
  • Umbrella-style shingle roof: Radial wedge-cut wooden shingles form a scalloped 6.3-inch overhang that sheds rain away from the entrance hole and helps keep the nest chamber dry.
  • Solid, unpainted wood walls: Natural wood staves give nestlings more shelter from hot sun and cold spring mornings than thin plastic or metal.
  • Small-bird entrance & twig perch: A round entrance of about 1¼–1⅜ in with a natural bark perch, a size that suits wrens and chickadees. A hole this size can also attract house sparrows, so hang it in shrubby cover away from buildings, where wrens like to nest and sparrows less so.
  • Ready to hang: Arrives assembled with a braided natural jute rope loop. Hang one by your patio, or choose the 2-Pack ($68) or 3-Pack ($94) to offer several nest sites around your yard. Hang them well apart, because wrens defend their own territory.

Keeping the Moss Green

The moss is real moss that has been preserved, not living moss, so it needs no water or light. Like all preserved moss, it fades in strong direct sun. Hang the house in dappled shade, under a tree canopy or a porch roof, and it will stay green for longer.

Frequently asked questions

What is this made from?

The exact materials for this piece are listed in the specifications above. Across the range we use untreated cedar, kiln-dried hardwood, metal, ceramic, glass, recycled cotton and preserved moss. A few designs — window feeders and the recycled-plastic range — do use plastic, and where they do it is stated on the product page.

Will it look exactly like the photo?

Images are representative. Our range comes from a number of independent workshops and suppliers, so an item may occasionally differ slightly from the photo in finish, grain, colour or small details. Natural wood and hand-finished pieces are never identical to one another. We are bringing more of the range into our own inventory to reduce this. If what arrives is not what you expected, email support@birdlover.store — returns are free for 30 days.

How does shipping work?

Shipping is free on every order, to all 28 countries in our delivery zone — you will see whether yours is covered at checkout. The range comes from a number of different small workshops and suppliers, so dispatch times vary from piece to piece, and items in the same order may arrive separately. We would rather not quote a delivery window we cannot keep, so we do not: you will get tracking by email as soon as your order ships.

Can I leave it outside all year?

Nearly everything here is built for year-round outdoor use — check the specifications above if you are unsure about a particular piece. Untreated wood will silver and weather over time; that is normal and does not affect how it works.

What if it is not right?

Return it within 30 days of delivery for a refund, for any reason. Return shipping is free — email support@birdlover.store and we will send you a prepaid return label. If it arrived damaged or we sent the wrong item, send a photo and we will put it right straight away. Refunds are issued within 5–7 business days of the item reaching us. EU customers also have a 14-day right of withdrawal.
