The two story, octagonal home has eight separate apartments, for a sizeable colony. Each apartment has a 2" diameter entry hole, surrounded by a metal predator guard for added protection and design. An octagonal base supports the home, creating perches for the four bottom level apartments. Single perches beneath each upper level opening create needed landing spots for the birds, while preventing porch domination. The individual apartments are triangular, narrowing at the back and offering martin families a wonderful nesting spot. A significant, black metal roof covers the home, its octagonal shape echoing that of the structure. The unit is crafted from PVC trimboard, designed to withstand seasons of use without delaminating or mildewing. The white PVC remains stable for 25 years, offering a lasting home and, combined with the black roof, lends a classic color scheme to the piece. A wooden finial completes the roof, which can be fully removed for seasonal cleanouts. The all-PVC divider easily lifts out of the home, for end of the year maintenance. A mounting collar is permanently attached to the base of the item, and can accommodate a true 4" x 4" wooden post (not included) for secure mounting.
