A brown body with corrugated, gray metal roof creates a familiar look on the item, enhanced by its wooden perch and cheery decals. The dual side stickers read "Feed & Seed" in all caps with a bird silhouette atop each, and their western-inspired font completes the effect. A metal topper affixes to the roof ridge, and another decal here advertises what the reservoir holds. This significant, internal chamber accommodates 10 quarts of sunflower, safflower, or mixed seed, and a line of windows beneath the roof overhang makes monitoring levels simple. A horizontal feeding trough below the windows enables small birds to dine, and a weight sensitive, wooden perch in front of it offers resting spots. If a larger animal puts its weight on this perch, a metal plate descends to fully cover the feeding area, preventing them from dining. The sensitivity can be adjusted for 2 ounces up to 8 ounces, accommodating a variety of bird species. A squeeze tab on the back keeps the lid securely closed, and must be activated to lift the roof upward for refilling. An included hanger attaches to the top of the accent for placement on a bracket or shepherd's hook, or, for a different display, place the included mounting plate on the bottom of the item to attach it to a 0.875" outer diameter pole (not included). The powder coated steel construction ensures durability and weather resistance, while the brown and gray hues bolster the country store effect.
