These are decorative. They do not attract real birds, and anyone who tells you a fake bird acts as a decoy for songbirds is selling something — if anything, a static shape can make a cautious bird more wary, not less. Buy them because they look good.

Questions people ask

Will these attract real birds?
No. They are ornaments. If you want real cardinals, a feeder of black-oil sunflower or safflower is what does it — see our bird feeders.

Can they stay outside?
They are sold for indoor and outdoor use, but feathers in persistent rain will look tired far sooner than they will indoors. Under a porch, in a sheltered wreath or in a covered planter is where they last.

Are they suitable around pets?
Keep them out of reach of cats and dogs — loose feathers and small parts are not something you want chewed.
